The Difference Between Video & Cinema

Today, even smartphones are capable of capturing great video, but to make what is captured compelling to watch, emotionally felt, interesting enough to be finished, and strong enough to be acted upon... that requires the art and science of Cinematography.

Why Cinema?

Video is expected to make up 82% of internet traffic by the end of 2021. (Cisco)

A website is 53 times more likely to reach the front page of Google if it includes video. (Insivia)

Including a video on your landing page can boost your conversion rate by up to 80%. (Unbounce)

Video increases organic search traffic on a website by 157%. (Conversion XL)

25% of companies publish videos every week. (Buffer)

85% of consumers want to see more video content from brands. (HubSpot)

On average, people spend 2.6x more time on pages with video than without. (Wistia)

What is A Cinematographer (DP)?

It is the responsibility of the cinematographer or Director

of Photography (DP) to realize the vision of the director or client by making technical and artistic decisions in regards to lens choice, exposure, lighting, composition, filters, camera movement, color-grading and more.

To put it simply, the cinematographer is the person accountable for the art and science of motion picture photography. Every decision the cinematographer makes must also service the director and the story.
